Bending Moment & Shear Force Calculator for simply supported beam with uniform load on left-side portion of span

uniform load on left side

This calculator provides the result for bending moment (Mx) and shear force (Fx) at a distance "x" from the left support A of a simply supported beam with uniformly distributed load (UDL) on left-side portion of span. It also calculates support reactions and maximum bending moment (Max B.M.) value as well as its distance from A. The typical diagrams for shear force and bending moment are also shown here. The shear force diagram will be inclined straight line from A to C with a slope equal to the rate of loading, whereas from C to B it will be straight line with zero slope. Bending moment diagram will be parabolic from A to C with maximum value at the point of zero shear force. From C to B, the bending moment diagram will be straight line with a slope equal to shear force in that range. Bending moment at the support points A and B will be zero. To get more about shear force and bending moment diagrams please refer to our solved examples.

Please refer to the figure and enter the values of load and distances in the form given below and then press "Calculate". Enter the downward acting load as negative and upward load as positive. All the distances should be measured with reference to the origin taken at the extreme left end of the beam. You can visit instructions for bending moment calculator if you need more help.
