Instructions for using the Calculator

This free online calculator is developed to calculate the slope and deflection at any point of the cantilever beam carrying point load, moment,  uniform load (udl) or varying load (udl). It also gives the values of maximum slope and deflection which occur at the free end.

(i) The forces and deflection upward are considered as positive and counter clock-wise moment and rotation are taken as positive.

(ii) Take the origin of reference axes at the extreme left end of the beam. All the distances should be entered in meter and load in kN, Moment of Inertia in cm4 and Modulus of elasticity (E) in GPa. It will give the values of slope (in rad.) and deflection (in mm) at any section of cantilever.

(iii) You can also quickly get the deflection values at different points of the beam just by changing the position of section "x" (taking origin of axes at left support)

(iiv) This calculator will also help you in getting the ordinates of influence line diagram for deflection in case of moving load on the structures.

In case of combination of loads, you can apply the principle of superposition to calculate the resultant slope and deflection.
