Instructions for Calculator for Slope and Deflection of Cantilever

(i) The forces and deflection in the upward direction are considered as positive whereas downward forces and deflection are taken as negative.
(ii) The moments and rotations in the counter clock-wise direction are taken as positive whereas moment and rotation in the clock-wise direction are taken as negative.
(iii) Take the origin of reference axes at the extreme left end of the beam. All the distances should be entered in meter and load in kN, Moment of Inertia in cm⁴ and Modulus of elasticity (E) in GPa (10⁹ N/m²). This calculator will give the values of slope in radian and deflection in mm at any section "x" of cantilever.
(iv) You can also quickly get the slope and deflection values at different points of the beam just by changing the position of section "x".
(v) This calculator can also be used to find the ordinates of influence line diagram for structures..
(vi) In case of combination of loads, you can apply the principle of superposition to calculate the resultant slope and deflection.
